The FbDelete Extension

A free browser extension that adds a "Select All" control to Messenger, so you can batch-delete conversations instead of one at a time.

Not yet on the Chrome Web Store

The extension is currently in early access and installed manually ("unpacked") while it goes through store review. It is open source — you can read exactly what it does before installing.

Install manually (Chrome / Edge / Brave)

  1. 1Download the extension: GitHub Releases and unzip it.
  2. 2Open chrome://extensions (or edge://extensions).
  3. 3Turn on Developer mode (top right).
  4. 4Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped extension folder.
  5. 5Open messenger.com — a "Select All" bar will appear above your conversation list.

How it works

The extension runs entirely in your own browser. When you open messenger.com, it adds checkboxes and a "Select All" button to the conversation list. When you click "Delete Selected", it clicks through Facebook's own delete-conversation menu for each thread you selected, one after another, pacing itself between clicks.

It does not call any private API, does not read message content, and does not send anything to FbDelete's servers — it only automates the same clicks you could make yourself.

Please read before using

Facebook has no official bulk-delete feature for Messenger, so this extension works by automating Facebook's own interface rather than an approved API. Deletions are permanent and cannot be undone. Very fast, very large batches could be flagged by Facebook as unusual activity on your account. Use at your own discretion, and consider downloading your data first.
